So on May 7, I had the pleasure of helping a friend celebrate her accomplishment of obtaining her Doctor of Public Health in Health Promotion, Education and Behavior from the University of South Carolina (USC). Charis and I met at USC while we were both obtaining our Master’s Degree. We took a couple of Arnold School of Public Health core curriculum classes together. Since I have started my event planning business, Charis has been very supportive of it. She reads the blog and comments and likes the many of the posts I share on Facebook. So when Charis asked if I could assist with planning her graduation party, of course I enthusiastically said YES! Getting a doctorate degree is such a HUGE accomplishment and should be recognized and celebrated.
Well we had roughly 3 weeks to get this party planned, so off to the races we went. Charis wanted a simple, but elegant party. For colors, Charis did not have a preference as long as there was no pink. Easy enough… we decided to use Gamecock colors of black, garnet and white. USC is a large university with roughly 50,000 students, so party spaces are swiped up quickly with so many people graduating. Luckily, we were able to hold the party at Tsunami in their upstairs section. I loved that this area was separate from the main space, but very open and overlooked the bottom floor, so you still were able to get the vibe of the restaurant. The upstairs also had its own bar with bartender!
This was my second event where I tackled florals. I don’t think I ever want to become a florist, but I do like to dabble in them every once in awhile for smaller events. We ordered decadent cupcakes from Cupcake. They did not disappoint! All in all it was a great day to be a Gamecock and so excited for Charis and her next adventure!
