Hey Loves:
So I have decided that I will be starting a new series called Weekend Wrap-Up. I figured it would be a great way to show y’all (yes I am southern) a bit more about the woman behind Avila Dawn Events and get a glimpse into the craziness that I call LIFE!!
As everyone knows or maybe you didn’t but I am getting married on March 28, 2015. Yes the date is quickly approaching and their is much to do; however, this weekend I got to indulge in some fun wedding things. Saturday morning my mom and I had our first dress fitting! Yay!!Lucky for me I don’t have to get ANY alterations to my dress, well except to get a bustle sewn in. I was a little nervous about the girls making an appearance, but once they got me all tightened into the dress, man those babies aren’t going anywhere. There is one thing though… I did not order extra length on my dress… and the shoes I purchased to wear with my dress are a tad too tall and the dress is a bit short. No worries, I have a second pair of heels that I have had my eye on and are just the right height for the dress. My mom was not as lucky. Her dress was too big, so she does have few alterations that have to be made. My mother and I always purchased accessories for our dresses. I found my veil and some great earrings. I am still on the hunt for a bracelet, but have two back-up options is need be.
After the dress fitting, Brian and my dad met my mom and I at Pawleys Island Bakery, so we could do a cake tasting! The tasting was HEAVEN! I LOVE cake, so I was all in for this. My dad though I feel like had more fun at the tasting than I did. He tried everything MULTIPLE times! They provided us with four different cake flavors, two buttercream flavors and 7 icing flavors. However, this was just the tip of the iceburg!! Pawleys Island Bakery has a TON more flavors, basically if you can image it they can create it. You will have to wait until the wedding to see what flavors Brian and I chose.
After the cake tasting, we were hungry for “real” food so we went to PF Chang. We had the best laugh during our late lunch. My mom NOT being a drinker put her Mai Tai back in 3 minutes (and it was actually fairly strong). The three relatively full glasses you see are from Brian, my dad and myself who have an occasionally adult beverage during the week and we weren’t nearly as zealous as she was in consuming the drink. Best laugh ever!!
After lunch, it was off to do a little shopping. The boys lasted with us through one store before they were over it and decided to leave us and head back to Georgetown, SC. Hey that didn’t deter my mother and I, we continued with our errands and hit quite a few stores!
On Sunday, we toured some of the suites and villas that our guests would be staying at and had our menu tasting at Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club. I was very happy to view the rooms as it helped me narrow down what I needed to get for the wedding weekend! Pawleys Plantation has been a pleasure to work with. Yuani has been oh so nice and the Chef definitely pleased our taste buds. We are still tweaking our menu, but this definitely helped in refining what we want.
Have a great week everyone!!
